Tetris Wouldn't Triumph at The Game Awards — An Additional Classification May Address This Issue

Whenever a significant prize-giving event nears, you'll find a demand for introducing fresh award types to honor underappreciated efforts and fill the passions of followers dedicated to specific genres.

Another commentator previously argued advocating for terror-themed awards. It would be amazing. The same goes for board games, this being a passionate advocate's mission. Yet I need to apologize in advance when I prioritize since similar to dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification supporting my request is the most urgent above others. The demand is this: It's essential to create an award type for logic-based games.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Classifying creative works defies precise measurement; opinions vary greatly, and typically generate discussions and end in fuzzy definitions. It's understandable that cinema institutions avoid this approach. But it is an essential concession in the world of video games, which are so diverse it's challenging to consider them a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of achievement in video games to gain proper attention, while allowing diverse titles to compete fairly, classification by type becomes crucial.

Current Gaming Award Categories

Leading game ceremonies presently include award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, RPG experiences, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these classifications actually cover numerous genres, allowing placement for numerous titles.

Different situation exists for brain-teasing titles. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Think about these recent excellent titles, showing diverse approaches: building puzzles in a particular game, fast-paced pattern recognition of another game, thought-provoking social scenarios of a third title. What category would fit them between these six categories? Nowhere, that’s where.

Recognition Challenges

Many instances occur excellent brain-teasers launched regularly without proper recognition during gaming ceremonies, except when they manage to fit classification types such as Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, or the intensely contested small studio competitions.

  • An iconic brain-teaser got overlooked for anything during that awards season
  • Another imaginative release was excluded during that ceremony
  • Popular arranging title received no acknowledgment recently
  • Only a few brain-teasers barely qualified for small studio or handheld classifications

Significance of Puzzle Games

Frequently they represent compact experiences, yet the craft behind logic titles is of massive significance. Iconic mobile puzzle games rank among the most-played games worldwide maintaining this status for an extended period.

The iconic tile-matching title competes with well-known building titles claiming status as best-selling game of all time; it’s also in the running for best game of all time. Puzzle games are foundational within interactive entertainment, and they are in conversation with diverse game types.

Proposal and Rationale

Logic titles wouldn't face that issue. You could fill multiple candidates engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — or rather, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave many worthy titles.

Restating the point, these represent titles without proper classification at major gaming awards. Brain-teaser creators are working at the demanding boundary interactive creation, developing some of most fundamental forms within interactive entertainment. Just like cinema stunt performers, they deserve recognition. We shouldn't delay generations.
